As a rapidly growing public company, Baja Mining was looking to improve their IT infrastructure in order to accommodate their growth and improve security. In particular, they wanted to reduce the "single point of failure" issues that were distracting their staff from their core responsibilities.

Backbone IT Services was brought in to audit the existing environment and reduce the "single points of failure". This was done by segragating services such as routing, DHCP, firewalling, fileserving/domain controller onto separate devices.

With this new network configuration, even if there was a problem with one item, the other functions of the network would remain intact.

Backbone IT Services also added an encrypted wireless network for use by office visitors, allowing those visitors Internet access without the ability to scan the Baja Mining internal network. A separate encrypted wireless network was configured for staff use as well.

Future projects include the addition of a Linux-based automated backup server to reduce the staff's workload in conducting data backups.
